An talented musician and healer once taught me that if we suppress our tears they don’t go away. Every tear that you hold back still exists, stored up in your body, waiting to be released.
It may take years, but your tears will eventually find freedom, and the emotions they carry to the surface can then be released. On that day you will experience a healing. That’s why we feel so much better after releasing our tears.
Tears are the releaser of emotions, and we need them to be healthy, happy and balanced.
Many of us believe that crying is a sign of weakness – that we don’t have our shit together – and if tears come we have somehow failed. It’s an unfortunately pervasive belief in our society.
You may remember in The Wellness Formula, the story of the doctor who discovered that all his patients had the same things in common; one being they all held on to negative emotions, which wreaked havoc on their health. He trained in Reiki, an energy healing practice from Japan, and helped his patients release emotions they had held on to for years, thus helping them heal.
Try it for yourself. Next time you need to cry, don’t suppress your tears. Let them flow. Whether you need an energy healing technique, such as Reiki, to help you do this, is up to you. Let them flow and see how much better you feel afterwards. Then you will experience a healing.
