It was winter in Maine; a very wintery winter as it turned out. Even the locals commented on how extreme the season was that year. I was a New England Winter Newbie – my uninitiated Scottish blood used to milder, windier weather – so I spent much of the time inside trying to stay warm, which I was finding hard to do in the old house we lived in by the edge of a frozen lake.
It was the day of the local winter carnival, where seasoned locals celebrated the cold with activities such as sponsored plunges into the lake where the ice had been cut away and dog sled rides across parts of the lake that were frozen thick.
I was not participating, of course, as I was inside trying to stay warm.
Yet, from our lake-view windows, I could see some of the action, and with the binoculars could see some of the dog sled teams that ventured near our house.
An Aura Appeared Around Each Sled
As I was looking through the binoculars at one of the dog sled teams – consisting of two people standing on a sleigh being pulled along by a pack of dogs – I saw what appeared to be a circular rainbow surround the entire group – the dogs, the people, and the sleigh.
I had seen that rainbow of colours before and recognized it as an aura, but this one was different. Whilst I had seen auras surrounding individual people before, I had never seen a group aura until that day.
Still looking through the binoculars, I searched for other dog sled teams on the ice and saw the same thing: each team had a visible aura surrounding them; the red layer of the rainbow on the inside of the aura, followed by all the other colours through to violet on the outer edge.
I was transfixed. For several minutes I watched as each team sped around the lake like bubbles of rainbow light.
What is happening? I asked myself. And, as if in answer to my silent question, the word “oneness” floated across my mind.
I Saw a Visual Manifestation of Oneness
Each individual of the group – the humans, the animals, and the inanimate sleigh – had become one entity with one shared group aura. And the same thing had happened for each team.
Slowly the rainbows faded from my sight and I came back to normal vision.
I had had a brief glimpse into the spiritual truth of oneness; no longer just a concept I believed in, but a truth I had witnessed – if even in just a small way.
So small that I find it ironic I saw so many manifestations of oneness that day. I mean, why not one set of oneness? Why so many?
I can only guess at the answer.
Was it because each team was acting as one unit in that moment of time. If they had all joined together would I have seen one big rainbow? What would I have seen when the rides were over and each went their separate way? Would I have seen new “oneness auras” being formed? Who knows. As I said, it was only a small glimpse into spiritual truth.
The experience stays with me still, and I often wonder if I might see larger manifestations of oneness someday, like the group aura of a town, a country, the planet! Who knows.
