“There is a constant flow of energy from you into your environment, as well as from your environment back to you. It’s a constant feedback loop.” – Nantene and Malachor
Here’s my least sexy formula for shifting your energy and your results: do the housework.
Whoever said cleanliness is next to Godliness was on to something.
“Clean” energy is lighter and more joyful than cluttered and dirty energy, and your house is no exception.
How do you feel when your house is dirty and messy?
How do you feel when your house is clean and tidy?
The first step to raising the vibes in your home is to clean it – literally. It’s one of the most healing things you can do for you and your family.
I remember going to visit a friend at her house. I loved going to her house because it always made me feel good. My house, on the other hand, always made me feel sleepy and grumpy.
I mentioned this to my friend one day and she told me that she had placed crystals around the house and underneath the floorboards.
I thought that might be the secret to why her house felt so good, so I decided to get myself some crystals to place them in and around my home.
However, even with all the crystals, my house did not make me feel the way my friend’s house did.
So I tried other things, like smudging, burning incense, ringing bells, clapping my hands around the house, getting fresh flowers, and sprinkling salt around the place – all to shift the crappy energy in my home.
Well, the vibes in my house did improve, but it still wasn’t like my friend’s place.
I continued with the space clearing tools. I even did some Feng Shui and filled the house with Reiki. I wondered if I had bought the wrong crystals because my house still had a crappy feeling and my energy dropped as soon as I walked in the front door.
Then on one visit to my friend, I noticed something I hadn’t noticed before: her house was spotless. I mean, sparkly clean. “Interesting,” I wondered to myself. “Does housework make that much of a difference?”
I thought about it some more and remembered that I had never, ever seen my friend’s house dirty, messy or cluttered. My house, on the other hand, was always dirty. I considered myself “too spiritual” to care about something so mundane as housework.
There were almost always dirty dishes lying around and piling up in the sink. I never mopped the floors and only vacuumed when there was visible dirt or foodstuffs on the floor. I certainly didn’t care for dusting, and I’d be doing well to change my bedding once a month! In short, my house was disgusting.
You may not be as averse to housework as I was, but I can tell you from experience that nothing changed the energy in my home – not crystals, not smudging, not chanting or drumming, or any other space-clearing method – more than doing the housework.
No amount of sage could compensate for all the dirt and mess.
Obviously, there are spotlessly clean homes that still don’t feel good when you walk in the front door. That’s because they have done the physical cleaning but neglected the energetic cleaning. Both are required to shift the vibration of your home – and all who live there. Doing one without the other is not enough.
Now when I clean my house – physically and energetically – our home and our mood feel so much better. We say things like, “It feels so good in here.” That’s because clean has a lighter vibration than dirty, and whoever said cleanliness is next to Godliness was definitely on to something.
