“Don’t cry – pray!”
Toor Pekai Yousafzai
In October 2012, three girls were shot by the Taliban on their way home from school, just because they were females who dared to get an education.
Miraculously, all three survived even though one of them, Malala Yousafzai, was shot through the head at point-blank range.
The attack became international news, and Malala later became the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
What didn’t make international news was Malala’s mother. When she heard what happened she gathered her community and urged them to pray instead of cry. They prayed their heart’s out.
If I could tell the world one thing about this miracle, it would be that Muslim prayers are answered, too. “Miracles occur in the temples of every creed,” was Akbar the Great’s epiphany.
No religion or belief system has a monopoly on miracles. If we all grasped the enormity of this one fact, we’d dissolve global hatred overnight.
Don’t let anyone tell you miracles are only for some people and not others. Miracles are everyone – regardless of their religion or belief system.
