In 2006, when I was still searching for my soul-mate, I dated a man I met at a Six Sensory Certification event in Chicago, led by the talented Sonia Choquette.
We had a brief long-distance relationship but in the end he wasn’t my soul-mate, which we thankfully discovered quickly.
Actually, a psychic told me at the beginning of our relationship that he was a “stepping stone” to my soul-mate, which turned out to be true as I met my husband John through him. (I wrote about all of this in my book Where is my soul-mate? if you are interested in learning more about that.)
Anyway, he was a spiritual sort of guy who liked learning about the same kinds of things I liked learning about – that’s why we met where we did – and we would discuss spiritual topics at length and share our experiences with each other.
There is one story he told me that made a huge impact on me that I remember to this day.
He told me about the time he was struggling in his life. He had gone through a painful divorce and was overwhelmed with the stress of caring for his children and keeping up with his business responsibilities.
One day in despair he fell to his knees beside his bed, unable to cope with the pain and stress of his life, and called out to his guides and angels: “Everyone who can help me get here now!”
He was still on his knees when his young son came into the room. He started waving his arms around, like he was pushing something out of the way, and asked his dad why the room was so crowded!
In that moment this man’s son gave him the most important validation that not only had his desperate plea been heard, but that his team, his guides and angels, were REAL and there in the room with him. This man couldn’t see them, but his young son could, and they were there, surrounding him, just like he had asked.
Side note: if your child tells you they see someone you can’t it is most likely they are seeing a guide or angel. Give them your encouragement and respect their sensitive eyes.
His story fills me with awe even now. So many of us are filled with doubt about whether spirit is real, whether we are heard or helped or even loved. At times when I am struggling, and I send out my own spiritual “distress call,” I remember this story and think of all the beings in the room who I may not see but know are there.
The #1 lesson from this story is to ask Spirit for help when you need it, and remember that you are surrounded by a team of guides and angels, even if you cannot see them with your physical eyes.
